Bandit Owner Testimonials
(From Bandit talk lists & Holeshot e-mail)

Reggie (Bandit 600IMR):
Dale,
I just wanted to write you and tell you how pleased I am with the dog bones for my Bandit 600. Once I got them installed, WOW! what a difference. I am happy to say that it lowered my bike at least 2-2 1/2 inches. I am very pleased, and am now more confident, with the results.

Also, just to let future owners of this kit know, you do not have to do anything with the side stand, because the bike still remains at an angle, but not as much as before. It did not change the handling of the bike whatsoever. It also helps if you lower the triple tree up front about 3/4 of an inch form the top. It actually levels the bike.

Once again thanks for your assistance with finding a solution to my problem.

Steven Engel (Las Vegas, NV):
Dear Dale,
Enclosed are a few pictures of my B-12 with your new Vortex High Pipe. It looks and sounds awesome. No changes, jetting wise, were needed after replacing the old Vortex with the new "High" Vortex. Thanks for another great product and answering all my questions over the phone.

W.H. Craft (2000 Bandit 1200-S):
Over a 35 year riding career I have purchased aftermarket products for nearly everything from Bultaco to Yamaha. I have NEVER purchased products that deliver performance as advertised coupled with flawless fit & finish like your product line does. Excellent job!

Dale,
I just wanted to comment on my new Galfer lines [2 line front & clutch] installed on my 2001 B12 today. The improvement to the front brakes I would estimate at 10-15%. Very good control and response, I have small hands and have the lever adjustment at 6, with the stock lines I had to pull the lever nearly to the grip to maximize braking effect, with the Galfers I get the same response in about half the lever travel. I am very happy with this setup.

The clutch line was as much cosmetic as performance for me, works fine, maybe slightly less lever pull is needed now. Easier to hold clutch in for prolonged periods, waiting for traffic to clear, or at long stop lights.

Waiting to get a few more miles on before installing the Vortex, but having a hard time waiting!!!

Thanks for great products,
Jay.

Dale,
thank you for your opinion, as I'm partial to the 2001 Bandit. As soon as I can get my hands on one I'll be purchasing some of your products. Once again, thank you for taking time to speak with me, something that almost all other companies would never do. Your in a league of your own, and, writing the book on how to deal with valued customers.

Bob Stuart (99 Bandit 1200):
Just installed your Stage 1 jet Kit on my Bandit. I used your settings and am running a D&D slip on. I just wanted to say how nice it was to get a product that works right out of the box. The bike is so much improved over the whole range, it seems that it has fuel injection rather than carbs. Thanks again.

Charley H. Mason, Hazel Green AL:
Hi,
My Vortex and stage 1 kit came Tuesday afternoon. I started installing about 5:00 completed at 6:45. I an very impressed with your instructions (Good Job!). I was not able to ride it very far last night. My B12 only has 340 miles on it and it was 28 deg. last night, but I can tell an improvement in throttle characteristics and it looks and sounds great.

I have bought a lot of stuff from Dale but only after researching both Dale's and the competition's accessories thoroughly. I am fully satisfied with all aspects of Dale's operation, information availability, web site, sales/telephone manner, service after the sale, fit, finish/appearance, performance, instructions, overall quality, delivery time, stuff shipped promptly and packed well enough to avoid damage etc.

I have purchased both cosmetic and performance parts including Progressive front springs, rear tire hugger, rear end clean up kit, Stage I - 2" hole mod jet and filter kit, Vortex slip-on with elbow pipe and ignition advancer. Everything has been as advertised plus a little more.

When I bought the Bandit one of the few aesthetic features I did not like was the rear fender plastic honker. Dale's kit took care of that!

I think my bike looks great with the add ons (`99 B12) and runs fantastically well. A couple of my big concerns before purchasing were not having to endlessly fiddle with dialing in the carbs/jets, air box and exhaust package, degree of difficulty of installation and relative loudness of the Vortex and potentially screwing up what I felt was already a pretty good running bike and of course cost.

None of these fears materialized and I am within a whisker of being fully dialed in with Dale's recommended settings (only a carb sync away I believe). Installation was straightforward for an advanced do it yourselfer with good written instructions and lots of help from the Bandit-Talk Listers, the Vortex is not too loud (when I expressed concern about this Dale even supplied a street cored SV 650 slip on in lieu whatever the "standard" B12 can's core is to reduce potential volume).

I researched getting a used RF900 can (nearly impossible to find) and the Yosh RS3 and V&H SS2 slip ons both came in second to Dale's Vortex.... I also looked into Factory Pro, DynoJet and K&N jet kits as well as putting all my own parts and pieces together from different vendors and Dale's jet kit also prevailed.....

I found Dale's prices to be reasonable or if slightly higher than some of the competition, worth it for the both the tangible and intangible extras.

Dale is one of the few companies out there that actually answers your email too.

Overall I am just real, real pleased and would highly recommend Dale and Holeshot to anyone considering doing upgrades to their Bandit. One of the other things I like about Holeshot is that they are tuned into the Bandit and development thereof in a complete package way rather than a one size fits all approach.

As a final touch Dale is a friendly personable person to boot. Without ever having met him I feel like I know him as a friend and fellow enthusiast. He was fabulous about doing his best to answer all my questions and address concerns that were important to me.

I am thinking there are some stainless steel brake lines and maybe some rear sets in my not too distant future from Dale.

Randy Worley - B6:
I just installed your stage 1 jet kit on my 96-B6 and i am very happy with it. I was a little leary about working on 4 carbs. (instead of one during my dirt bike days) Everything happend the way you said it would and when I hit the starter button I could tell the difference as soon as the bike fired up. I was thinking to myself "Why didn't I do this 4 years ago when I bought the Bandit!!!" I thought for sure I would have to sync the carbs since I got 15k miles on them but the bike ran just fine. Only other thing I had to do it set the idle which was too low after installing the kit. Less than a minute of adjustments later the idle was back to normal. Only problem (my fault) is that I broke a sheet metal screw in one of the plugs that I drilled out. I drilled another hole right beside it and put in another screw. I got the plug out but I also broke some of the "tube" off. (The last plug I had to take out, of course) I am sending you a picture of the broken area, but i am not worried about it. Thanks for all of your help and your good quality products.

Thomas W.W.B.O.C. #229:
Dale,
I have installed the Vortex exhaust and stage one jet kit. As suggested I ran the 100 jets on all four. I took it to the Dyno to see the results and see if a dealer could offer any tune-up tweaks (carb adjustments, synchronize) that I could not do in my garage. To my surprise the dealer said they were the best running carbs he had seen. Meaning even out put across the board. That was news to my ears. Your installation instructions and guide was on the money. 2 1/2 turns out and they were set. I came away with 70.8 horsepower.
Thanks, Thomas

Dennis Clark:
Hello Dale,
Just received My Vortex for my Bandit (00' 1200) and just wanted to comment on the quality and workmanship. For the last 25 years I've had several bikes including dirt and street. I've spent several thousand dollars on performance accessories (Pro Circuit, LCS, etc.) the Vortex and crossover were simply flawless, the finest quality I've ever seen. Thank you for such a fine product I will continue to build my Bandit to get the very most out of it, using your system. I was going to buy a Hayabusa this year but changed my mind after reading up on your shop and products. So keep up the good work and thanks... I've fell in love with my bike all over again
Yours truly, Dennis Clark ( your "Texas Connection" )

Kevin-01 B12S:
The bar snake did its job... there was about a 50% reduction in the handlebars. I went on a two hour ride and my right hand did not numb. Thanks for the help.

I am an owner of a 1997 Bandit 1200. I have installed your stage 1 jet and filter kit and ignition advancer. The kit went in fine, no problems. Runs smoother and needs less choke just like you said.

DALE, it is 8:26am here in Phoenix, AZ and I just took my frist long ride with the parts I bought from you. I know that you have heard this a 1,000 times, but you do have your stuff together on parts for the Bandit 1200. I plan to tell any one who will listen that you are an honest man who sells just what he claims. Again, THANK YOU.

Dale,
Just a quick note to comment on recent purchase I made your company.

After reading about your products in a recent magazine article, I decided to give them a try. I ordered your s/o exhaust, stage 2 jet kit, and 5 deg. advance for my 2000 Suzuki B1200. As my bike is still under warranty, I asked the shop I purchased it from if they had any experience with your products, and they said no. I had them do the installation to circumvent any future warranty issues as my bike was only 2 months old. Prior to the install I had my bike dynoed & the numbers were as follows:
99.4 H.P.
70.6 ft/lb torque

After the install I took my bike back to the same dyno & the numbers were as follows:
118.9 H.P.
81.1 ft/lb torque

As you should know, I was quite thrilled with the results & the bike shop was thoroughly impressed as well. Sorry it was not such a quick note, but I cant say enough about how happy I am with my return in investment.

Thanks again.......Cam

Dear Dale:
Thank you for your quick response on my request on the location and delivery time for my jet kit and pipe. Your office called me to let me know the delivery would be today, (Mon the 18th). Low and behold, there they were when I got home from work. Ode to Joy! Opened that sucker like a kid on Christmas Day and what did I find? Just one of the finest pieced of workmanship I have ever seen. Pipe and can in under an hour, less than an hour to change over the carbs. Now the damn problem is getting that air box back on. It's 12 midnight, and I just gave up. Wait till I'm more alert. Anyway, thanks for the service. Will let you know how everything works out. Should be ready by the weekend.

Sincerely, Scott

Gary Wilshire, Arlington, VA:
I just installed a pair of Napoleon long-stem mirrors on my 2000 B12, and wanted to let you know they are fantastic. Much wider field of vision and less vibraton than stock mirrors. This was my first purchase from Holeshot and I am completely satisfied. I will surely be making additional purchases from you.
Thanks, Gary

John Keevert (Bandit 1200):
I bought your jet kit and slip on for my Bandit 1200. Although I'm mostly a backyard mechanic, with a manual and your instructions, I completed the upgrade and the bike fired up on first crank. Your claims were true! Much better power in low end, and smoother/stronger operation through out the rev range with your 'normal' settings. Thanks for a great product.

David Martz, Seattle, WA:
Installed Holeshot Slip-On for my 2001 Bandit 600S, and followed Dale's directions for rejetting. It's really made solid performance improvements! Smoothed out the power curve, got rid of the flat spots, added a couple of ponies and dropped the heavy stock can. And it sounds great. I had it at the Suzuki dealership here in Seattle and got many nice comments from the race freaks about the deep but mellow growl. All I can say is it all worked exactly as advertised. Thanks for such a great product! I look forward to getting the matching header and shedding a few more pounds.

A very happy Bandit,
David

Jim Miller, (Bandit 1200):
I recently purchased your stage 2 jet kit, slip-on exhaust, timing advancer, and fiberglass lowers for my 1997 Bandit 1200. After installing all components, there was a new look and sound to my b12. After one adjustment to the needle, I was riding a new bike. I still have some experimenting to do with jetting and needle height, but the bike absolutly rips through the gears with much more power on tap than stock. Dale is ready to assist and help out in case of need. I found plenty of info on tuning on the web.
Thanks Dale

Hi Dale,

I got my Vortex s/o on Friday (one day to Sacramento isn't bad!), and installed it promptly on my 2K1 B12. The fit, finish, and quality are excellent! I studied/worked in mechanical design for several years, and I'm very impressed with the design and craftsmanship. The overall power increase was quite notable, and the exhaust note was music to my ears. The Vortex makes the B12 sound like it should - Mean as hell. I'll be happy to recommend it to every Bandito I know. Now all I need is your Stage 1 kit.

Thanks, and ride safely :-)

Max Tinsley, ('01 Bandit 1200S):
I love my Bandit. I traded my R1 to get my Bandit. The R1 is an awesome machine but overall I enjoy my Bandit much more. She now has Dale's Holeshot slip-on and the sound is inspiring. Fit and finish are perfect. As soon as Holeshot finishes figuring out what stage 2 set-up will work best, I plan on getting the Holeshot header and stage 2 kit. If anyone is looking for about 15 more horses and another 10 foot pounds of torque, simply bolt on the Holeshot slip-on. I was amazed at the difference. Glad to see this forum start up. Let's try and keep each other posted with updates to our loves and what works or doesn't work. Keep it safe and enjoy.
Max

Dale,
You were right, the jet kit was no big deal. Never screwed with bike carbs before (done about 10 car carbs though). With your instructions and a Haynes
I got it done without a hitch. BIG DAMN DIFFERENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for all of your help.

Sam Stadler, Eagle River, Alaska:
Hello Dale,

Just wanted to thank you for the lowering kit for my Bandit. I really like it. I can be flat footed at the stop lights now, first time in 20 years.

Also thanks for talking me into the long stem mirrors. They are much better than the stock ones. I plan on getting more parts and kits from you this winter.

Thanks again.

Bill Johnson (Southern California):
Hey Dale,

Hope you are having a great weekend. Thought I would drop you this note to let you know I finally got to take the bike out for her first real run and not a test run.

Here is a copy of the posting I put out on Maximum-Suzuki:

Hey All,
As you know I installed Dales step header system, stage II kit and timing advancer. After two weeks of messing with it with Dales help, we got it dialed in. Also after reading several of the stories and not having a bike that could really go this fast, I bought a set of leathers, riding boots and a new pair of good riding gloves.

Well I finally got to take the bike out for a good ride. Even though I was getting the boots and leathers broken in (very uncomfortable right now), I was able to see what this bike could do now. All I have to say is WWWWOOOOOOWWWWW!!!!!!!!! Does she move. Took her up in to the mountains to check the jetting, work fine except for a very slight stumble. High altitude, little rich. I can live with that.

I want you to know that Dale has put together a set up that works fantastic. I also met a couple of new guys and when I mentioned Dale Walker, they both knew of him and the great work he does. That impressed me.

Also I would like to thank Dale for all the help he gave me in working out this challenge with my bike.

So if you want the power, go to Holeshot, you will not regret it. Might enjoy it, but never regret it.

What was pretty neat was I have not met anyone to ride with until today. I met a couple of guys near where I live and we are going to try to get together next weekend. Any way, we got to talking about our bikes and I mentioned Dale Walker and Holeshot for there performance needs and both of them have heard of you and really like your work.

When you find a person and a company like you, you find one in a million. Because you give the personal touch for your customers, that impresses me and I like that.

Have a great rest of the weekend.

Bill
