Dear Dale
The FZ1 HoleShot Stage 1 mod kit with advancer was well worth the effort. The most difficult part of the installation was removing and installing the carb's. (the advancer would of been easier with an air impact gun but not impossible) The rest of the carb work was a piece of cake. I especially liked the stainless steel, allen head screws for the float bowls. I set the floats as per the instructions, shimmed the needles, replaced the main jets as recommended for my altitude and split the difference for the mixture screws (3 turns).
My real results are:
Easy starting. No choke required on a warm day and no throttle required when the bike is warm. Just touch the starter and the engine comes to life.
Power is more controllable and smooth along the whole curve.
All the surging has dissappeared.
All mirror buzz has dissappeared except a very slight amount right at 3000 rpm's.
If and when you do crank the throttle, the power is instant.......
No pinging with 87 octane.
Customer service couldn't be better.
Thank You.
PS: I installed your kit with a Yosh RS-3 Oval.

I put on your FZ1 14" Holeshot muffler last year, and this year I installed your Jet Kit. I would consider myself and most people around me very anal retentive, and to tell you the truth, I wasn't expecting all that much from the Jet Kit. All I can say after installing it is that I have a permanent grin that I haven't been able to get rid of since installing it. I've had it for a few weeks and it's exactly as advertised. I belong to the FZ1OA board and some of those guys need to get a life. I, for one, am enjoying mine.
Thanks-

I recently installed your new FZ1 3+ degree ignition advancer and this is how it works for me. I always had a slight bog as I take off from a stop with the other brand jet kit. You know normal take off as if your wife is on the back. That's gone now. My low and mid is a lot stronger now, very responsive with the twist of the throttle. I don't mean whack full throttle, I mean good strong take off from a traffic light in town. Once I went up a step on the main jets, because mine was on the boarder line of being lean anyway the increased response goes all the way through redline. The seat of the pants meter says it has more torque now. Much easier to pull front wheel up in the air without using the clutch. I'm very happy with your advancer.

Just Installed Dale's everything
Finally last Sunday I finished installing Dale's jet kit, header's and air pump eliminator. It was this spring when I purchased all of these including the advancer which I installed right away. If you do nothing else to your FZ1 I would say the ignition advancer makes for a very easy and very satifying improvement in performance.
My FZ1 is an 03 that I purchased in Nov 04. It was totally stock. I live in Temecula, CA only about 30 minutes from Race Tech. So the first thing I did was take it down to Race Tech and have them do their magic. The result is a standard bike that can hang with any sportbike at ease in the twisties.
The installation of the header and jet kit and air pump removal is something that must be done with little interruption for if you want to complete it in one shot. I picked a hot (105) Sunday to do it instead of my usual ride. Thank's to Dale's instructions, Pat's FZ1 site and others the process was made much easier. The one most critical proccess is measuring the float bowls. My advice is study Pat's page and the pictures of Ivan doing the bowls and don't touch anything on your floats until you fully understand the process. Only one of my floats was marginally off. If you have carb experience this won't be an issue.
In the end the installation went well and the bike was much cleaner looking with out all the air pump plumbing.
The afternoon I finished the FZ1 I went for a little spin just to make sure everything worked. Incidently the only thing that wasn't Dale's was my Hindle aftermarket carbon fiber pipe off my V-Max. The bike started easily and idled perfect with all of Dale's settings. Unfortunately it was still 105 degrees out and bikes like people don't perform that great when it is that hot. The result was the bike performed nice but there was no way to feel definitevely the difference until yesterday in the Santa Monica mountains above Malibu.
The temperatures above Malibu were in the 70's. The weather was beautiful. We headed to the famous 'Rock Store' and had some eats. After that it was time to carve up Mulholland drive, Encinal Canyon Road and others. All I can say is WOW. Kudos to Dale, my FZ1 literally hauls ass. I literally had to hump my tank to keep the front end down coming out of the corners. Twist the throttle and you have a very angry bike that is going to catch whatever is in your sights and then pass at will. There are going to be a lot of knee draggers that are going to have major questions why you have been munching their rear fenders in the most aggressive way. Keep in mind that my suspension has been Race Tech'ed. Yesterday I probably ran 250 miles in all kinds of conditions. The bike performed flawlessly in 90 mile an hour LA traffic, it performed perfect in 5 MPH Labor day traffic in Malibu and of course it performed perfect and just the way I had hoped for in the mountains of Santa Monica.
Having had to spend countless hours dialing carb (stage 7) and pipe settings on my V-Max I was looking for a less intense experience when I set out to do my FZ1. Dale's kit' was easy. They came with good directions. I know you can call him for advice, I didn't have to. My experience was the money I spent was well spent. Thank's Dale. Cheers, Patrick

Holeshot 8000 mile report
Installed Dale?s jet kit, advancer and high-mount slip-on when the bike had approx. 1000 miles. (9000) now) The install is straightforward. The advancer and slip on take about 30 min. The jet kit was around 3 hours. Dale?s instructions plus Pat?s wonderful pictures make the installation easier than might otherwise be the case. I would advise making a float gauge or purchasing the one sold by Factory Pro. Trying to set float level with a depth gauge was too difficult for my old eyes. The difference in the bike?s performance is night and day. It starts without the choke unless the temp is below 45 degrees. It will pull without hesitation from 1800 RPM in 6th gear and in general behaves like a giant electric motor. Instant smooth power with no flat spots all the way to redline. Throttle input is so linear that I feel like the throttle and the rear tire are connected. The craftsmanship of all of the components is fabulous plus Dale?s customer service is terrific.

Dale, I completed the jet kit installation with your advacner . I used 3 shims and set the idle mixture at 3.5 turns. Set the TPS and Carb Synch.
The bike runs great. No hesitation, tons of power, lost all the fuz in the mirrors, ect.......just as advertised.
Thanks

I've been hanging out on the FZ1 owners board since two days before I picked up my 05. I read the praises of Dale's kit and I knew I wanted to do the upgrade. Since I was limited by skills and tools, I needed to find someone to do it. I asked some local shops but they weren't using Dale's kit.I waited and searched till I found a guy that would do Dale's kit. I'm so glad I waited. Everyone at Holeshot has been really helpful and professional, I can't wait to buy more stuff. Now for the kit, I didn't realize what a differance the kit would make. I loved the bike stock, I really love the Holeshot bike. Instant cold start, no backfires. Less vibes. Smooth throttle response. And best of all, when you crack it open, it roars to life. From the roar of the less restrictive airbox mod, to the finely tuned exhaust note, it sounds like what it is, a beast. When I'm not riding it, I'm thinking about riding it. Bless you Dale! keep up the good work.

Holeshot kit and GYTR Slip-on, I'm so happy
I know most of you know, but for those who haven't done jets. I got Dale's kit installed over the weekend. I wasn't sure what to expect, but all I can say is WOW! the bike really woke up. When I'm not riding it, I'm thinking about riding it. I just had to tell someone, I told my wife, she said "that's nice dear" I told my non riding friends and they said " that's great" But I knew you guys would understand, thanks for listening. Oh yeah, the added bonus is when you thank the rubber thing out of the airbox, the carbs really roar when you open it up. Bless you Dale....

Just got your kit installed
Just wanted to drop you a line to say thanks for making my bike run the way I know it's supposed to. I just put your kit in this weekend and WOW!!!!! Smooth right off idle, hard pull at 4000 and even harder at 7000. THIS is what 1000cc is supposed to feel like. I'm running the stock can with your base settings. I might put in the 15 tooth sprocket, but I'm super happy with the way it's running right now.

Had Dale Walker's jet kit installed today. All I can say is wooooohoooo! The bike runs so much smoooooother now. The low end 3-5k has quick response and is silky smooth. The throttle response in the mid-range is outstanding. And just hold on when you crack the throttle above 7k.
The jet kit was installed, spark plugs changed out, AIS removed, coolant flushed and changed, air filter replaced, carbs synched, in 4 hours flat!
Thank you Dale for such a wonderful product!

Dale, i have Ivan's jet kit , a 15 tooth front and a 17 rear, i was looking for more low end punch so i installed your timing advancer after you recommended it. Well I'm very happy with the timing advancer!! The bike really pulls from the low to mid range. It added some bottom thump, best 60.00 bucks I've spent! Thanks Matt

Dear Dale,
Wanted to give you feedback on your jet kit/products.
Wow, the jet kit/ignition advancer worked wonders with the powerband and smoothness for Yamaha 2003 FZ1. I am so glad I didn't trade my bike in for the new 2006 FZ1.
I kept the stock pipes as local CHP have been on a crackdown and still the bike ran so much better, especially with low to mid range roll-on while spirited riding in the corners. Oftentimes I could crawl right up on the GXR's, R1's in the slow tight stuff, and smoothly acceleration and passing them while exiting super tight hairpins like a 4 -stroke thumper Moto-x bike, this on a carberated in-line 4. It just pulls like a turbine, so electric like, no hit, just linear from 2-4 rpm-amazing. Straight line smoothness and constant rpm riding was equally impressive with over 50 mpg runs on the super slab. Regular fuel as well. Top end seamed very good also, but I don't ride there much with street conditions as they are.
Yamaha can keep their new FZ1, with all the FI glitches. Anyone with a older FZ1, should install this kit without any hesitation.
PS. The smog removal kit nicely cleaned up the looks of the engine and the fender extender is now keeping the head pipes clean.

Dale,
I finally finished installing your stage 2 jet kit with timing advancer on my 2002 yamaha FZ1. It sounds awesome, and really tears up the roads! No problems keeping up with my bud's on thier rockets. I used to burn them in the corners, and now I get them on the straight away's as well. No more hesitation!!! Just turn the throttle and hang on!!
The instructions were step by step easy to follow, tuning tips were very helpful and Technical support was there.
It took me around 4 hours to remove old parts and install the new.
That was it!!
Thank you for an outstanding product! I am very happy with it, as promised!

Dale,
I just had your Stage 2 jet kit and Comp header installed on my 2002 FZ1 and the results are nothing short of amazing.? The bike looks and sounds great and runs fantastic. The mechanics at Gemini Motorsports in Pacoima, CA who did the installation were very impressed and?also convinced me to install some Progressive front fork springs to better handle the power of the engine.? Add to that the stainless steel brake lines and Ferodo pads I also installed, and I now have a very fast and good handling bike.? I just got back from a ride up Little Tujunga Canyon and I'm grinning from ear to ear.? I'll probably add your front fork brace and some stickier tires in the near future, and it will be near perfect for my style of riding.? Thanks for everything.
